[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] The Presidential Committee on National Integration announced on the 22nd that it has finalized the "Five-Year National Strategy for National Integration," which includes the national integration strategy and key tasks to be pursued over five years under the vision of "A United Korea, Our Korea."
The committee introduced that the "Five-Year National Strategy for National Integration" was prepared through a public discourse process over the past six months, including dozens of committee discussions, consultations with experts, NGOs, stakeholders from various sectors, related government departments, and a national integration conference.
Considering urgency and impact as priorities, the committee selected four major policies to be pursued over five years and 12 corresponding tasks: ▲ Preventing and responding to conflicts in an era of great transformation ▲ National integration through mature liberal democracy ▲ Mitigating economic polarization and supporting a sustainable industrial ecosystem ▲ Building a socio-cultural foundation through communication and solidarity.
This year, based on the two themes of "youth" and "socially vulnerable groups," special committees will be launched to prepare policy alternatives for specific current issues.

Regarding youth, in the first half of the year, three special committees will be sequentially launched from March: ▲ Special Committee on Mitigating Youth Gender Conflicts ▲ Special Committee on the Era of Youth Politics ▲ Special Committee on Strengthening Support Systems for Children under Protection and Youth Preparing for Independence.
The committee explained that by linking the youth special committees with the youth forum within the committee called "Cheongnyeon Madang," youth will be able to directly participate in discovering agendas, proposing, publicizing, and promoting them.
To strengthen protection for socially vulnerable groups and to enhance responses to new risks such as discovering new vulnerable groups and blind spots, isolation, safety, care, and loneliness, the following special committees will be launched in the first half of the year: ▲ Special Committee on Overcoming Suicide Crisis ▲ Special Committee on Accompanying Migrants ▲ Special Committee on Creating Safe and Healthy Workplaces.
Kim Han-gil, Chairperson of the National Integration Committee, stated, "(The National Integration Committee) was launched as the first committee of the Yoon Suk-yeol administration. Over the past seven months, our committee has held about 280 official meetings, including plenary sessions, subcommittee meetings, and special committee meetings," adding, "We have built infrastructure by organizing the National Integration Committee and preparing basic strategies, operated three special committees on win-win cooperation between large and small businesses, improving mobility convenience for the disabled, and fandom and democracy, and have achieved some results to come this far."
Chairperson Kim added, "This year marks the second year of the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, so we must produce concrete results achievable within the term and seek wisdom that the public can feel in their daily lives. To this end, we will strengthen efforts to inform and explain the public discourse process, including opinion gathering, persuasion, and alternative derivation of the eight special committees in the first half of the year. We will faithfully fulfill the role of actively discovering comprehensive integration issues beyond departmental barriers and proposing policies."
