bhc Group's university student volunteer organization, the ‘Haebaragi Volunteer Group,’ announced on the 22nd that it carried out support activities for the production of books for the visually impaired.
This volunteer activity was planned to expand the scope of volunteer work in various forms through online participation.
The 7th Haebaragi Volunteer Group, Team 2, participated on the 20th in an online volunteer activity for producing alternative materials for the disabled, operated by the National Library for Disabled Persons in Seocho-gu, Seoul. Using individual laptops to access the relevant webpage, they utilized a program called Hansoneul to perform proofreading work necessary for producing DAISY books. The volunteers selected desired books and meticulously compared the original content with the corrected content, letter by letter, continuing the proofreading work according to the prescribed input rules such as typos and spacing.
DAISY books are E-BOOKs designed for people with visual impairments, low vision, dyslexia, and other reading disabilities. The DAISY books produced based on the documents proofread by the Haebaragi Volunteer Group on this day will be provided to the visually impaired in audio form through TTS technology.
