Elementary Students Dance Pole Dance Saying 'Come Play'... Controversy Over Sexuality in Jeonbuk Province Promotional Video
Jeonbuk Province Deletes the Video in Question
A promotional video for Maisan in Jinan-gun, produced by Jeollabuk-do, has become embroiled in controversy over its suggestive content.
At the end of last year, Jeonbuk released a promotional video titled "Glamorous Pole Dance Blended with the Lights of Maisan (feat. Maisan Southern Night View)." The 30-second video was produced by Jeonbuk to revitalize local tourism in Jinan-gun.
The video features a young elementary school student in her early teens wearing "pole wear" (specialized pole dance attire) that reveals parts of her body, performing a pole dance in front of a full moon backdrop. At the end of the video, the phrase "Come visit Jinan" appears.
Criticism has arisen that the content of the video and the message it intends to convey are not harmonious.
Not only does the video lack sufficient content about Maisan tourism, but it is also being accused of exploitatively using a minor in a suggestive manner.
Following the controversy, Jeonbuk has deleted the video. Officials from Jeollabuk-do reportedly stated that in focusing on the dynamic aspect intended in the planning, they lacked gender sensitivity, and they plan to consult experts from now on.

Due to similar criticisms regarding lack of gender sensitivity, that video was also deleted.
