'Reversed Public Opinion'... Democratic Party Falls Behind People Power Party in Approval Ratings After 8 Months
People Power Party 45.0%, Democratic Party 39.9%

[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] For the first time since the local elections, the People Power Party's approval rating surpassed that of the Democratic Party of Korea beyond the margin of error. President Yoon Suk-yeol's approval rating for his administration exceeded 40%.
According to the regular public opinion poll conducted by Realmeter on the 20th (commissioned by Media Tribune, conducted from the 13th to the 17th nationwide targeting 2,504 adults aged 18 and over using ARS automated response method), the People Power Party's approval rating rose by 2.5 percentage points from the previous week to 45.0%. The Democratic Party's party approval rating fell by 2.9 percentage points to 39.9%, while the Justice Party maintained the same approval rating as the previous week at 3.3%.
Realmeter explained, "The gap between the People Power Party and the Democratic Party was 5.1 percentage points, marking the first time in about eight months (34 weeks) since the fourth week of June last year (People Power Party 44.8%, Democratic Party 39.5%) that the People Power Party led beyond the margin of error."
The People Power Party showed an upward trend in Daejeon·Sejong·Chungcheong (up 10.0 percentage points), Busan·Ulsan·Gyeongnam (up 7.2 percentage points), women (up 6.2 percentage points), and people in their 30s (up 8.1 percentage points). Conversely, the Democratic Party showed a noticeable decline in Daejeon·Sejong·Chungcheong (down 10.0 percentage points), Busan·Ulsan·Gyeongnam (down 5.7 percentage points), women (down 6.0 percentage points), people in their 40s (down 5.8 percentage points), and people in their 30s (down 5.1 percentage points).

President Yoon Suk-yeol's approval rating for his administration recorded 40.4%, up 3.5 percentage points from the previous survey. Notable increases were seen in Daejeon·Sejong·Chungcheong (up 9.0 percentage points), Busan·Ulsan·Gyeongnam (up 7.6 percentage points), Gwangju·Jeolla (up 6.4 percentage points), women (up 5.0 percentage points), and people in their 30s (up 9.7 percentage points).

Last week, President Yoon held a senior secretaries meeting, visited traditional markets, and conducted emergency economic and livelihood meetings, showing a continuous effort to stabilize people’s livelihoods. This livelihood-focused approach is interpreted as contributing to the rise in approval ratings. Looking at daily approval ratings, the rating was 37.9% at the beginning of the week (14th) and rose to 43.2% by the end of the week (17th), showing an upward trend over the week.
