Former Jinhae Fisheries Cooperative President Nodongjin to Become Next Head of the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives
[Asia Economy Reporter Bu Aeri] The National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives (Suhyup) elected Labor Jin, former chairman of Jinhae Fisheries Cooperative, as its 26th president on the 16th.
Labor was elected as the new president by securing a total of 47 votes in the final runoff vote held at the headquarters in Songpa-gu, Seoul, during the 2nd extraordinary general meeting that morning.
In the first round of voting that day, none of the three candidates secured a majority, leading to a runoff vote. Candidates for the Suhyup Federation president included Labor, former chairman Kim Deokcheol of Tongyeong Fisheries Cooperative, and former Suhyup Federation president Kim Imkwon.
Labor stated, "I will actively implement the pledges I made when running for election and the contents of the notebook in which I recorded the requests of cooperative chairmen while traveling nationwide, taking the lead in supporting cooperatives and fishermen, which is the fundamental purpose of the Federation's establishment."
Labor will begin a four-year term starting from the 27th of next month.
