"From Monitoring to Remote Action"... CJ Logistics Establishes Safety System Utilizing Innovative Technology
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] CJ Logistics has established an ‘EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) Situation Room’ and is continuously strengthening on-site safety inspections. As safety accidents become more complex and large-scale, the company judged that it is necessary to consolidate the safety capabilities, which were previously dispersed by business division, into one place.
On the 16th, CJ Logistics announced that it had established the first-ever ‘EHS Situation Room’ in the domestic logistics industry in line with the relocation of its Jongno headquarters. The EHS Situation Room is a type of integrated control center that connects CCTV installed at workplaces to monitor on-site situations scattered nationwide at a glance. The dashboard inside the situation room visualizes and displays the status of safety accidents, improvements in risk factors, and the implementation rate of safety management.
Under normal circumstances, safety experts are stationed in the EHS Situation Room to monitor CCTV and the dashboard in real time. To enable rapid information sharing about risk factors, close management is conducted by establishing a hotline between the field and headquarters.
In case of an emergency, the room switches to a War Room, where a command center composed of experts in safety, firefighting, electricity, and other fields acts as a control tower. Through body cams (wearable cameras) worn by on-site safety managers, the EHS Situation Room can grasp situations occurring both inside and outside, minimizing damage through quick decision-making and action.
Previously, situations varied by site and related information was shared only with a limited number of personnel, making it difficult to establish an integrated response system. With the establishment of the EHS Situation Room, various safety-related information is shared company-wide, enabling immediate and unified responses in case of emergencies.
On the 15th, during the ‘Safety Management Activity Day’ conducted simultaneously at headquarters and over 400 sites nationwide, more practical and realistic safety inspections were carried out using innovative technologies such as the integrated control system and body cams. This inspection was led by key executives including CEO Kang Shin-ho, emphasizing the importance of safety management at individual sites.
CJ Logistics pursues safety as the top priority value in management for all employees and designates a Safety Management Activity Day every month to inspect and evaluate on-site safety activities such as risk assessments and drills.
