Gwanak-gu, Safety Inspection of Vulnerable Facilities During Thawing Season
Inspection of 188 Safety-Vulnerable Facilities Including Steep Slopes, Aged Facilities, and Construction Sites
Frequent Patrols, Construction Site Safety Education, and Strengthened Monitoring of Surrounding Areas
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) will conduct safety inspections of safety-vulnerable facilities such as buildings in the area from February 15 to April 15 to prevent safety accidents during the thawing season.
The inspection targets 188 locations including steep slopes, road facilities, aged facilities, and excavation construction sites where safety accidents due to collapse or falling rocks are a concern. Inspection teams composed of facility management departments and external experts will conduct joint inspections.
At excavation construction sites, site managers and construction workers will be informed about major accident cases during the thawing season and safety management measures for vulnerable coexistence, proactively responding to safety accidents.
In particular, landslide-prone areas such as Gwanaksan Neighborhood Park, redevelopment maintenance zones like Bongcheon 4-1-2 district, and road facilities in areas that suffered flood damage such as Jowon-dong will also be thoroughly inspected.
Any issues that can be corrected on-site will be immediately addressed, and if serious defects or risk factors are found, safety management will be strengthened through urgent measures such as rapid repair and reinforcement, prohibition of use, and evacuation orders.
Mayor Park Jun-hee said, "Safety accidents during the thawing season often lead to major damage, so prior preparation is more important than anything else," adding, "We will prioritize the safety of residents and make every effort to prevent safety accidents through thorough safety inspections and prompt actions."
Eunpyeong-gu, 2023 Thawing Season Gas Facility Safety Inspection
From the 20th to next month’s 17th... Aimed at Preventing Gas Accidents During the Thawing Season

Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced that it will conduct gas facility safety inspections in collaboration with the Korea Gas Safety Corporation and Eunpyeong Fire Station in preparation for the thawing season.
This safety inspection aims to prevent gas accidents that may occur due to underground subsidence, soil outflow, and retaining wall cracks caused by the thawing of frozen ground during the past winter.
From the 20th to March 17, the district will visit 15 sites including LPG filling and sales stations, CNG filling stations, high-pressure gas facilities, large hospitals, and large-scale excavation construction sites for the metropolitan express railway in cooperation with related organizations.
They will conduct on-site guidance and inspections to eliminate any potential accidents. Strong administrative measures will be taken in case of serious legal violations. Continuous management will be maintained until improvements are completed.
Mayor Kim Mi-kyung of Eunpyeong-gu said, “We will do our best to create a village environment where residents and workers can all feel safe.”
Jongno-gu Announces ‘Civil Petition Waiting Number’ via KakaoTalk
Enter Mobile Phone Number at Civil Service Kiosk to Receive Real-Time Waiting Number and Queue Information via KakaoTalk
‘Real-Time Civil Petition Waiting Status’ and ‘Online Civil Petition Number Issuance Service’ to Launch on District Website in March
Jongno-gu (Mayor Jeong Moon-heon) has significantly improved convenience for civil petitioners by launching the ‘Civil Petition Waiting Number Notification Talk’ service on the 13th.
With the recent increase in overseas travel demand, passport applications have surged, causing long waiting times on-site. This service aims to alleviate the inconvenience of petitioners and help them use their time efficiently.
To use the service, instead of receiving a paper number ticket at the passport civil service kiosk, users enter their personal mobile phone number.
Thereafter, the district provides real-time waiting number and queue information via KakaoTalk notification messages. Up to three notifications are sent according to the queue, and paper number tickets can still be issued as before.
The district plans to expand the notification service from the passport civil service window to other counters such as resident registration, certificate issuance, seal registration, and family relations registration after pilot operation, effect analysis, and user monitoring.
Additionally, in March, the district will introduce ‘Real-Time Civil Petition Waiting Status’ and ‘Online Civil Petition Number Issuance Service’ on the district website, allowing anyone to easily check the number of people waiting for civil services.
Jongno-gu was recognized as an excellent institution in the ‘2022 Comprehensive Civil Service Evaluation,’ conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, which systematically assesses the level of public-facing services at over 300 institutions nationwide. This achievement is especially meaningful as the district was selected as an excellent institution for three consecutive years since 2020.
In the 2022 evaluation, the district received high scores across the board in areas such as institution-specific system operation, activities of the head of the institution, and thoroughness in civil petition processing. It also earned praise for operating legal home doctor services for vulnerable groups. This recognition externally acknowledges the district’s continuous efforts to provide high-quality civil services that residents can feel.
