Dongmyeong University Mature Student Publishes Essay Collection Reflecting 70 Years of Life Experience
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Duyul] Han Myeong-wol, a 71-year-old lifelong learner and graduate of Dongmyung University, recently published an essay collection titled Wild Horse on the Green Meadow, which captures various experiences from his life.
Han transferred into the 3rd year of the Global Business Department at Dongmyung University (a separate night class for work-study balance) and graduated in February 2021 with an average grade point exceeding 4.0.
The 145-page essay collection contains Han’s 70 years of life, the dreams and hopes he never gave up on, and memories from his days as a student at Dongmyung University, woven throughout the pages.

View original imageThe author said, “After receiving my bachelor’s degree from Dongmyung University, I thought my studies were over due to my age, but reflecting on my difficult life, I decided to write a small book to leave behind for my family, writing whenever I had time.”
Han Myeong-wol passed middle and high school equivalency exams in his mid-50s and, at the age of 67, transferred from Dongbusan University’s Department of Financial Management to Dongmyung University’s Department of International Trade (now the Global Business Department).
He is also active as an advisory member of the National Unification Advisory Council, a citizen environmental instructor at Nam-gu Office, head of the Sunlight Art Volunteer Group, and currently as a silver instructor (recreation instructor).
