Changwon Special City Provides $100,000 Emergency Aid to Turkey
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced on the 14th that it will provide $100,000 (approximately 127 million KRW) to help T?rkiye, which is experiencing a national disaster due to an earthquake.
Following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that occurred on the 6th in southeastern T?rkiye, more than 30,000 casualties have been reported so far in T?rkiye and Syria. Search and rescue operations are ongoing amid collapsed buildings and debris, and the death toll is expected to rise further. Additionally, survivors are facing severe difficulties due to cold weather and shortages of food and daily necessities.
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam will provide $100,000 (approximately 127 million KRW) to assist Turkey.
View original imageIn response, the city decided to provide emergency aid on a humanitarian basis for the rapid recovery and relief of disaster victims in T?rkiye, in accordance with Article 15 (Disaster Relief Support) of the "Ordinance on Promotion of Internationalization and International Exchange Cooperation of Changwon City." The city delivered $100,000 in relief funds through the Korean Red Cross to support disaster recovery and relief supplies.
The city is also promoting voluntary fundraising among public officials and employees of affiliated organizations, and plans to actively cooperate with self-governing organizations and social service groups to encourage citizens' voluntary donations and participation.
