Gyeonggi-do, Guidance and Crackdown on Vehicle Management Operators and Unregistered Businesses

[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gyeonggi Province will jointly crack down on unregistered operators and conduct guidance inspections of automobile management businesses in cooperation with cities, counties, and automobile management business associations.
According to the province on the 14th, the guidance inspections will be conducted from the 20th of this month until the end of March, targeting automobile management businesses related to maintenance, sales, and dismantling/recycling, as well as designated maintenance businesses (vehicle inspection centers) within the province.
The inspection items for automobile management businesses include ▲unregistered automobile management businesses ▲maintenance beyond the authorized scope ▲operations outside registered business locations ▲acts of deregistering vehicles without scrapping or not scrapping vehicles ▲failure to provide or falsification of used car performance inspection records.
For designated maintenance businesses (vehicle inspection centers), the focus will be on ▲falsifying vehicle inspection certificates ▲omitting inspection items during vehicle inspections ▲not recording or falsifying inspection scenes ▲unqualified inspections.
In last year’s inspections, the province took administrative actions including 16 cancellations of registration, 18 business suspensions, 52 fines, and 406 other improvements and administrative guidance cases, and filed complaints against 37 illegal acts by unregistered businesses.
For designated maintenance businesses (vehicle inspection centers), 23 cases of illegal acts such as manipulation and omission of inspection items were detected and administrative actions were taken.
