National Tax Service Commissioner: "We Will Reduce Tax Audit Scale and Ease Burden on Small and Medium Enterprises"

[Asia Economy Reporter Joo Sang-don] Kim Chang-gi, Commissioner of the National Tax Service, announced on the 14th that "the overall scale of tax audits for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will be reduced compared to the previous year, while the scale of simplified audits will be expanded."
On the same day, Commissioner Kim visited the Gumi National Industrial Complex and held an 'On-site Communication Meeting,' stating, "To support economic recovery, the National Tax Service will also implement multifaceted tax administration support to create a tax environment where businesses can focus on management."
This meeting was organized to meet with representatives of Korea's leading industries such as semiconductors, displays, and secondary batteries, to explain tax support measures aimed at boosting exports and revitalizing the private sector, and to listen to tax-related difficulties.
At the meeting, Commissioner Kim explained the key tax support measures to be prioritized this year. The National Tax Service plans to expand and implement the pilot simplified audit timing selection system to all offices to alleviate the tax audit burden on SMEs. Additionally, a 'Future Growth Tax Support Center' will be established to provide liquidity and management support to export SMEs, and customized tax support will be strengthened through a dedicated consultation system on Hometax.
Furthermore, corporate tax credit and exemption consulting will be provided to all SMEs, and when selecting companies for tax consulting on business succession, the proportion of export companies and long-established companies will be increased to promote investment and support growth.

In response, Commissioner Kim promised, "We will actively review the opinions raised at export sites and strive to reflect them in tax administration," adding, "We will continue to listen to voices from the field and provide tax support that taxpayers can feel."
