He added, "I apologize for any inconvenience caused to citizens and staff, and I will devote myself even more to city administration to repay that gratitude."
Starting his first schedule upon return with a visit to the Pohang Integrated Veterans Hall construction site, Mayor Lee resumed his field-centered approach. After receiving explanations on major issues from senior officials, he urged, "To develop Pohang into a global innovation city, please make thorough preparations related to securing future new growth engines and do your utmost to strengthen the city's unwavering competitiveness."
The mayor also said, "Please put all your efforts into designating the 'Secondary Battery Specialized Complex,' which will be a turning point for Pohang to leap forward as a world-class secondary battery hub city, as well as attracting Opportunity Development Zones and Education Free Zones that promote national balanced development." He added, "I hope you will accelerate infrastructure development such as securing electricity and industrial water in industrial complexes to ensure there are no setbacks in attracting battery anchor companies."
He further emphasized that the relocation of POSCO Holdings and the Future Technology Research Institute to Pohang is an important matter for Pohang's development as a global innovation city through attracting global anchor companies and world-class research institutes, and ordered continuous efforts to ensure the agreement is fulfilled.
He also urged administrative efforts to ensure the smooth implementation of policies for citizen safety and livelihood stability, such as dredging and riverbed maintenance of small streams ahead of the rainy season, as a proactive measure against spring drought.
