Boseong-gun, Continuous Operation of Resident Participatory Budget Proposals
Continuous Collection of Residents' Opinions on Local Issues and Projects
[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Cheon-seok] Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that from January 25 to December 31, 2024, it will conduct a year-round open call for resident participation budget proposal projects to be reflected in the 2024 budget formulation for Boseong residents.
Last year, resident participation budget proposal projects were accepted for about 50 days, but this year, the reception period has been expanded and reorganized to allow year-round proposals to improve the inconvenience of missing the submission period and being unable to propose projects.
Anyone who is a resident of Boseong-gun can participate in proposing projects, and representatives or executives of businesses with a main office or branch in Boseong-gun are also eligible.
Boseong-gun plans to focus on reviewing projects for military investment across the entire county administration, projects to improve the welfare and quality of life of local residents, projects with public benefits that can benefit many residents, population increase, and job creation projects, and promote them as key policy projects.
Proposed projects received will be carefully reviewed by the project department for feasibility and resident benefit, then finalized through the resident participation budget committee's deliberation and reflected in the 2024 budget. However, proposals submitted after September 1, 2023, will be reflected in the next year's (2025) projects.
A Boseong-gun official said, "Since 2012, we have been promoting resident participation budget proposal contests with the goal of ensuring transparency and democracy in the budget by legally and institutionally guaranteeing residents' participation in the budget formulation process and realizing fiscal democracy," adding, "As the flower of local autonomy begins with resident participation, we ask for the active participation of all residents."
Meanwhile, the resident participation budget system is a system where residents discover and propose necessary local projects by resolving inconveniences in daily life and reducing budgets for unnecessary projects, thereby participating in budget formulation.
