Lotte Chemical Begins Joint Research on Clean Ammonia Production in the US
Decision of the Consultative Group with Japan's Mitsubishi Corporation and Germany's RWE
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] Lotte Chemical has formed a consultative body with German energy company RWE and Japanese Mitsubishi Corporation for the production and supply of clean ammonia.
On the 7th, at Lotte World Tower in Jamsil, Seoul, Hwang Jin-gu, Head of Hydrogen Energy Business Group (Head of Basic Materials Business) at Lotte Chemical, Hiroki Haba, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Mitsubishi Corporation, and Wolf K?stlin, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of RWE, attended and signed a Joint Study Agreement (JSA).
Hwang Jin-gu, Head of the Hydrogen Energy Business Unit at Lotte Chemical (right), signed a joint research agreement on the 7th at Lotte World Tower in Jamsil, Seoul, with Wolf Kulstein, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of RWE, and Hiroki Haba, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Mitsubishi Corporation.
View original imageThe three companies will collaborate on joint research for the production and export project of clean ammonia at the Port of Corpus Christi, Texas, which has the largest energy export terminal in the United States. They aim to produce up to 10 million tons of clean ammonia starting from 2030 and export it to Asia and Europe through joint shipping facilities.
The Corpus Christi area is evaluated as advantageous for clean ammonia production due to its abundant natural gas reserves and ease of utilizing renewable energy. Additionally, it has the largest energy export terminal in the U.S. equipped with infrastructure such as port facilities for export.
