[Convenience Store Adventure] Our Home Is a Dessert Hotspot... It's All About Cookat
Buttery Sticky Moist Texture
Harmony of Chapssaltteok and Fruits
Chewy Texture Inside Ice Cream
Convenience stores are emerging as dessert hotspots for the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z). The stars of this trend are the Cookat Butter Bar, Chapssaltteok, and ice cream sold at GS25. Thanks to the cold weather, people don’t need to travel far to specialty dessert shops and can enjoy high-quality products at affordable prices, making them very popular.
The Cookat Butter Bar Original is designed with a butter bar image, a cat character representing Cookat, and the phrase "Original flavor." When the plastic wrap was removed, the butter bar was wrapped on a paper tray. This seemed to prevent the butter bar from breaking and allowed it to be eaten without getting your hands dirty. The original butter bar has a light yellow hue and tastes similar to a sweet butter cookie.
The Cookat Butter Bar Yellow Cheese is instantly recognizable by its orange packaging indicating the yellow cheese flavor. Like the original flavor, its length is slightly longer than the index finger, and the yellow butter bar is divided into upper and lower layers by sheets. The texture felt more sticky and moist rather than the dense chewiness emphasized in the advertisement. Although priced at about 30-40% of specialty dessert shop prices, the product quality was by no means inferior.
Cookat Chapssaltteok has long held a bestseller position. The Strawberry Milk Chapssaltteok has thick rice cake, and when cut in half, it is filled with fresh milk cream and strawberry puree. The harmony between the rice cake and filling was excellent, confirming why it is the number one Cookat dessert. The Peach Yogurt Chapssaltteok contains yogurt cream and peach chunks, adding a fun chewy texture. The Mango Milk Chapssaltteok is filled with milk cream and mango jam, offering a sweet and tangy flavor that was a delicacy.
The ice cream also ranks high. The Strawberry Chapssaltteok Bar is coated about two-thirds with strawberry-flavored chocolate, with the rest consisting of milk-flavored ice cream. Taking a bite, the chocolate and strawberry puree syrup-filled milk ice cream harmonized delightfully on the tongue. The chewy texture of the chapssaltteok pieces embedded intermittently enriched the flavor. When the Milk Chapssaltteok Monaka was split in half, the monaka shell was packed with ice cream. Although the chapssaltteok is not visible from the outside, its chewiness is noticeable while eating.
