Google Announces 'Bard AI,' a Rival to ChatGPT... Service Launching Within Weeks
[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] The AI chatbot 'ChatGPT' has created a sensation by surpassing 100 million monthly users just two months after its launch, and Google has officially announced the release of its rival 'Bard'.
On the 6th (local time), Google introduced its new conversational AI service Bard and announced that it will launch the official service within a few weeks. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google's parent company Alphabet, said in a company blog post that "before the official release, it will be opened to trusted testers" and added, "Bard will combine the world's knowledge with the power, intelligence, and creativity of large language models."
Bard is based on Google's existing language model, Lamda. CEO Pichai said Bard will provide high-quality answers based on the web and evaluated it as "an outlet for creativity and a stepping stone for curiosity."
Specifically, he emphasized that Bard can simplify complex topics, such as explaining NASA's James Webb Space Telescope's new discoveries to a 9-year-old child. He also added that it helps users learn more about the world's top strikers and receive training.
This announcement came amid the literal craze caused by OpenAI's ChatGPT. For Google, which has dominated the global search engine market, there is growing concern that if it does not respond quickly to the rapid rise of ChatGPT, it could lose the market. Google recently invested $400 million in the AI startup Anthropic.
