"Reading, Coffee, and Culture Together"… Opening of Sejong Lounge
Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, Space Restructuring Project
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Seoul Metropolitan Government's Sejong Center for the Performing Arts announced on the 6th that it will restructure the first-floor space into a book caf?-style convenience space called 'Sejong Lounge,' where books, rest, culture, and arts coexist. The opening ceremony will be held tomorrow at 3 PM to welcome citizens.
The core of this 'Sejong Lounge' creation is to ‘enhance citizen convenience.’ The most noticeable point is that 'Sejong Lounge' has transformed into an ‘open cultural space’ accessible to all citizens.
In addition, with the opening of 'Sejong Lounge,' Gwanghwamun Square and the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts are directly connected, significantly improving the mobility convenience for citizens walking through Gwanghwamun and urban tourists.
The opening ceremony of 'Sejong Lounge' gains more significance as citizen representatives participate together. Through an event on the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts’ social media (SNS) channels, two individual citizen teams and one family team with children who wished to participate were pre-selected. The selected citizens will attend the event and brighten the occasion.
Additionally, one team from ‘Beautiful People,’ a socially vulnerable group participating in Sejong Center’s representative social contribution project ‘Happiness for 1,000 Won,’ will be invited to experience the newly implemented barrier-free route.

Ahn Hosang, President of the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, said, “This restructuring of the Sejong Center space was redesigned as a complex cultural space to enhance citizen convenience in line with Seoul’s ‘Vision 2030’ plan,” adding, “We hope the newly opened 'Sejong Lounge' will serve as a sanctuary where citizens can enjoy books, rest, and culture and arts all in one place in their daily lives.”
