Seongbuk-gu Provides 100,000 KRW Heating Support to Energy-Vulnerable Groups
Temporary Special Heating Cost Support: 100,000 KRW for Vulnerable Groups (Near-Poverty Class) and 1,000,000 KRW for Facilities (3 Months)
District Decides to Provide Budget Support Amid Ongoing Cold Wave and Soaring Heating Costs
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seongbuk-gu (District Mayor Lee Seung-ro) will provide additional heating cost support to about 3,000 energy-vulnerable households struggling due to the ongoing cold wave and skyrocketing heating bills.
A district official stated, “Following Seoul City's heating cost support for basic livelihood security recipients in preparation for the cold wave, we have decided to provide heating cost support from the district’s own budget to vulnerable groups outside of the recipients.”
This support is a temporary special winter assistance targeting the near-poverty class, who are not basic livelihood security recipients but belong to the potential poverty group. Each eligible household will receive 100,000 KRW in February without a separate application.
Additionally, social welfare facilities omitted from Seoul City's additional heating cost support will receive 1,000,000 KRW per month for three months.

Seongbuk-gu Mayor Lee Seung-ro said, “We judged that support for residents’ livelihood stability is essential due to the consecutive cold waves and sharply increased heating costs, so we hastened to decide on this support. Through this separate district budget support, we will carefully ensure that there are no residents in the ‘heating blind spots’ this winter and prevent safety accidents and cold-related illnesses in advance.”
