Local Nonghyup Official Booked on Charges of Fraudulent Overclaiming of Insurance Benefits
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Employees of the Nonghyup in the Muan area, who excessively claimed insurance money by bringing additional agricultural products to the site of a fire, are now under police investigation.
The Jeonnam Police Agency's Anti-Corruption Economic Crime Investigation Unit 1 announced on the 3rd that four local Nonghyup officials were booked without detention on charges of falsely overclaiming insurance money (violation of the Special Act on the Prevention of Insurance Fraud).
They are suspected of claiming insurance money exceeding the actual damage by bringing more agricultural products to the site of a fire at a Nonghyup-owned cold storage warehouse in July last year.
The police estimate that the insurance money fraudulently obtained by them amounts to approximately 270 million won.
