Hapcheon-gun Accelerates Development Project for Domestic Water Supply in Rural and Fishing Villages with Poor Water Access
100 Billion KRW Investment for Water Purification Plant Expansion
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 31st that it is accelerating four rural living water development projects, including the expansion of Hapcheon Water Purification Plant, to supply clean and stable tap water throughout the county.
Currently, the Hapcheon Water Purification Plant located in Hapcheon-eup has been operating since 1996 with a capacity of 10,000㎡/day, supplying five other myeon areas besides Hapcheon-eup. To expand supply to areas without local tap water such as Samga, Gahoe, Daebyeong, and Yongju, a water purification plant expansion project (1,500㎡/day) with a budget of 10 billion KRW was launched at the end of last year and is being promoted with a goal of completion in 2024.
In addition, alongside this project, a rural living water development project (104 km of pipeline installation) with a budget of 31.2 billion KRW will be launched this year to supply stable local tap water to 31 villages in areas without tap water such as Samga, Gahoe, and Yongju.
In the Gaya area, a rural living water development project (11 km of pipeline installation) is underway with a budget of 8.3 billion KRW to additionally supply local tap water to eight villages (Sachon-ri to Daejeon-ri) outside the existing tap water supply area, aiming to supply local tap water by 2025.

A county official stated, "Through this project, we will do our best to expand local tap water facilities, including securing provincial subsidies, to supply clean and safe clear water to 39 villages in vulnerable water supply areas suffering from water quality pollution and water shortage due to recurring droughts every year."
