Documentary Photographer No Soon-chaek Praises His First Photo Exhibition Highly
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] "I am captivated by the intense artistic spirit that captures the moment."
Former President Moon Jae-in, who is preparing a bookstore in Pyeongsan Village, Yangsan, Gyeongnam, highly praised the book by documentary photographer No Sun-taek in a post on social networking service (SNS) on the 29th.
Former President Moon said, "《Malhaneun Nun (Speaking Eyes)》 is the first photo theory book published by one of the leading documentary photographers of this era, No Sun-taek. There are times when I feel a thrill from the intuitive and powerful message conveyed by a single photograph," adding, "I support the first publication of a small publishing company and the aspirations contained within it."
"I see. Some scenes I see because I want to, and some scenes I see even though I don't want to.
Generally, I do not close my eyes. I admonish that opening your eyes is your task."
'Malhaneun Nun (Speaking Eyes)' is the first photo theory that condenses the thoughts of documentary photographer No Sun-taek. It is composed of four chapters: 'The Scissors of Photography,' which contemplates the cutting of photos and the sewing of meaning; 'The Trigger, Bullet, and Film,' which observes the context in which photos are placed; 'The Time of Photography,' which reflects on presence and absence contained in photos; and 'Memory Struggle,' which talks about those who have fought against oblivion to protect memory.
