Daejeon City to Support Necessary Expenses for Childcare Centers for Ages 3 to 5 Starting March
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City announced on the 25th that starting from March this year, it will support the necessary expenses for children aged 3 to 5 attending daycare centers.
The support targets approximately 85,000 Nuri Curriculum children enrolled in daycare centers located in Daejeon, with a monthly support amount (necessary expenses) of 90,000 KRW per child.
Necessary expenses refer to actual costs not included in the childcare fees supported by the government and the city, such as expenses for purchasing goods, special activities, and field trips. Daycare centers typically charge an average of 120,000 KRW to 190,000 KRW per month for these necessary expenses.
To receive support, parents must apply in advance at the daycare center starting next month.
Earlier, the city enacted the "Daejeon City Early Childhood Education Expense Support Ordinance" in October last year to provide free childcare for young children and allocated a budget of 7.7 billion KRW this year to support this initiative.
