[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yongsan-gu (Acting Mayor Kim Seon-su) is recruiting nationwide craft associations, groups, and artists to hold exhibitions at the Yongsan Craft Center starting from the 31st.
This is to support exhibition opportunities for craft artists engaged in creative activities and to provide visual attractions for visitors.
Opened in 2018, the Yongsan Craft Center (274 Itaewon-ro) is a hub for local craft culture. It has three basement floors and four above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 2,800㎡. Facilities include a craft product sales area (1st floor), pottery and Hanbok experience zones (2nd floor), craft learning spaces and workshops (3rd floor), and exhibition rooms (4th floor). It also offers daily hands-on experiences and craft classes.
The district supports selected venue rental artists (groups) by promoting their exhibitions, producing banners, and subsidizing 50% of the rental fee (up to 1 million KRW) to help ensure successful exhibitions. The exhibition room on the 4th floor measures 86.73㎡ and is equipped with exhibition stands, rail lighting, wires, and a beam projector.
There will be a total of four exhibition sessions: ▲1st session from June 13 to 25 ▲2nd session from July 4 to 16 ▲3rd session from July 25 to August 6 ▲4th session from August 15 to 27. Delivery of works is on Tuesdays, removal on Sundays, and openings on Wednesdays, with an actual exhibition period of 10 days.
Individuals or groups wishing to rent the exhibition room should submit the application form, rental agreement, and portfolio via email to the person in charge. After a review process, the selection results will be announced on the district’s website on March 14. For more details, please refer to the district and Yongsan Craft Center websites.
A district official stated, “The Yongsan Craft Center is evolving into an international craft culture venue that promotes the excellence and beauty of Korean crafts and leads the Korean Wave culture. We hope many artists will show interest in this venue rental opportunity to showcase their works to the public.”
