Severe Cold from the First Day of the Holiday... Most Areas Remain Below Freezing
On the first day of the Lunar New Year holiday and Saturday, the 21st, temperatures will drop below freezing in most areas, making it very cold.
As of 5 a.m. that day, the temperatures in major regions were Seoul -9.5°C, Incheon -9.5°C, Suwon -8.9°C, Chuncheon -14.4°C, Gangneung -4.9°C, Cheongju -6.5°C, Daejeon -8.0°C, Jeonju -6.4°C, Gwangju -4.8°C, Jeju 2.3°C, Daegu -5.1°C, Busan -3.4°C, Ulsan -5.6°C, Changwon -4.6°C, and others. The highest temperatures during the day are expected to range from -2°C to 6°C.
Snowfall of less than 1 cm is forecast until morning along the west coast of Jeonbuk and on Ulleungdo and Dokdo. Fine dust levels are expected to be 'good' across all regions due to smooth atmospheric dispersion.

Sea waves are expected to be 0.5 to 2.0 meters in the East Sea coastal waters, 0.5 to 1.0 meters in the West Sea coastal waters, and 0.5 to 1.0 meters in the South Sea coastal waters. In the offshore waters (about 200 km from the coastline), wave heights will be 1.0 to 3.5 meters in the East Sea and 0.5 to 2.0 meters in the West and South Seas.
