Kim Aesuk Promoted and Appointed as Director General at Jeju Provincial Council Secretariat

Kim Ae-sook, Secretary General of the Council Secretariat, entered public service in 1984 and has served in various positions including accounting officer in the General Affairs Division of the province, head of the Social Education Division at the Talent Development Institute, and General Affairs Officer of the Provincial Council. After being promoted to Deputy Director General in January 2021, she served as Director of the Tourism Bureau of the province and was appointed Secretary General of the Provincial Council as of January 17 this year.
With this promotion, Secretary General Kim Ae-sook has earned the titles of ‘the first female Secretary General’ and ‘the first female Director General’.
Chairman Kim Kyung-hak said, “Today will be recorded as a historic day in the history of the Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Council,” adding, “The first female Secretary General in the history of the Jeju Provincial Council and the first female Director General in the history of provincial administration have been born.”
He continued, “As the invisible barriers for female public officials in the province have been broken down, if they do their best in their assigned duties, good results will await.”
