Spiranic Launches Paid Accounts... 'Minimum Annual Income of 5.4 Billion Won'
11 Million Followers Including 3.7 Million on Instagram
Estimated $4.4 Million from Monthly Subscription Fee of 12,000 Won
Among golf personalities, Paige Spiranac (USA), who boasts the largest number of social media followers, has launched a paid website.
The American business magazine Forbes reported on the 19th (local time) about Spiranac's paid site launch. Spiranac's social media followers total 11 million, including 3.7 million on Instagram. This is about 600,000 more than the Instagram followers of the "Golf Emperor" Tiger Woods (USA), who has 3.1 million followers.
Spiranac explained the purpose of opening the paid site, saying, "I wanted to share golf lessons, live broadcasts, and photo shoots with my fans," and "I have long heard from fans that content about flop shots and bunker shots has been very helpful."
The subscription fee for the paid site is reportedly $9.99 per month (about 12,000 KRW). Forbes speculated that if just 1% of Spiranac's social media followers become paid members, her annual income could reach $4.4 million (about 5.4 billion KRW).
Since turning professional, Spiranac has not made significant achievements as a golf player. In 2015, she participated as an invited player in the Ladies European Tour (LET) Omega Dubai Ladies Masters, but faced criticism from some fans and golf media for "a player without skills relying on looks to enter the tournament, taking away opportunities from truly skilled players."
