Park Min-ji was selected as the most searched Korean Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) player by golf fans last year.
According to the analysis conducted by KLPGA's data center on the 17th, the player most frequently searched by golf fans visiting the data center last year was Park Min-ji. She delivered outstanding performances, winning six tournaments for the second consecutive year and achieving back-to-back titles as the leading money winner and top winner.
In second place was Yoo Hyun-joo, who consistently participated not only in broadcasts but also in the Dream Tour last year to hone her skills. In third place was 'Korean golf legend' Park Se-ri, while fourth and fifth places were taken by the 'same-age rivals' Lim Hee-jeong and Park Hyun-kyung, respectively. In sixth place was Kim Ha-neul, who has been connecting with golf fans through various platforms since her retirement.
There were also players whose rankings surged dramatically. Hwang Jeong-mi, who claimed her first career victory last year with a dramatic comeback win, rose 54 places from 77th in 2021 to 23rd last year. Ko Ji-woo, known for her aggressive playing style, climbed 46 places from 82nd in 2021 to 36th last year. Lee Ye-won, the season champion last season, jumped from 66th to 21st.
Right after being selected, Park Min-ji said, "I feel good that many people showed interest. Since I have a small stature, I guess people were curious about the reasons behind my good results and searched for that." She added, "I am currently in the United States for training camp, and having received so much love last year, I will strive to become a more mature player not only in terms of performance but also in mindset and attitude this year."
