Explosion Accident at Chemical Plant in Liaoning, China... "Explosion Sound Heard 25km Away"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] At around 1:25 PM on the 15th, an explosion occurred at a chemical plant in Panshan County, Liaoning Province, China.
The Panshan County Safety Department reported receiving a notification that a fire broke out along with the explosion during maintenance work at the plant. They dispatched personnel to the scene to carry out emergency response and rescue operations. The situation continued until 5 PM, and according to plant officials, contact has been lost with 4 to 5 workers.
The Safety Department added that an investigation into the cause of the accident is underway, and medical treatment for the injured is in progress.
Chinese media estimate that the explosion occurred in a tank storing chemical substances. Residents testified that the explosion was so powerful that windows were shattered and doors were broken in houses about 2 km away from the accident site.
