Rep. Kim and Mayor Oh met for about an hour around 5 p.m. at a Korean restaurant in Jung-gu, Seoul. Dongdongju was served as a drink at the table, accompanied by assorted jeon (Korean pancakes) and tofu kimchi as side dishes.
Mayor Oh said, "This restaurant is called Janchijip (Banquet House)," adding, "Just as the name suggests, I hope our party convention will also be like a banquet, and that we can make Seoul a happy city like a banquet for the people. I will do my best to support this." Afterward, the dinner meeting was held privately for about an hour.
After the meeting, Mayor Oh told reporters, "The party convention should be loved by the people, and I expressed my hope that it would not become a source of concern for them. I also said that regardless of who becomes the party leader after the convention, terms like 'Pro-Yoon' or 'Anti-Yoon' should disappear, and that efforts should be made to hold the next general election in a harmonious atmosphere."
Following him, Rep. Kim told reporters, "We shared the opinion that the party should achieve unity and stability ahead of the convention to lead the success of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration."
He continued, "Our party should become like 'Yeonpotang' (a Korean stew symbolizing unity) through solidarity, inclusion, and integration," emphasizing, "I believe the party should play a role in creating a country where the people can truly feel excited, like at a banquet, regarding various political issues."
Regarding former Rep. Na Kyung-won, who has recently been weighing a run for party leader, he said, "A politician's responsibility does not disappear depending on the situation," adding, "I believe she will make responsible political decisions regardless of the circumstances."
