Yeongyang-gun and Gyeongbuk Provincial Office of Education Sign Agreement for Yeongyang Elementary School Facility Complexification
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] Yeongyang County in Gyeongbuk Province and the Gyeongbuk Provincial Office of Education held a business agreement ceremony on the 13th at the Yeongyang County Office large conference room regarding the Yeongyang Elementary School facility complexification (public parking lot construction) project.
The ceremony was hosted by the Gyeongbuk Provincial Office of Education and attended by Superintendent Lim Jong-sik, Lee Kyung, Director of Yeongyang Education Support Office, and Lee Seung-jun, Principal of Yeongyang Elementary School. From Yeongyang County, about 10 people including County Governor Oh Do-chang, Yeongyang County Council Chairman Kim Seok-hyun, and Gyeongbuk Provincial Assembly member Park Hong-yeol participated.
The Yeongyang Elementary School facility complexification project is the first case in Gyeongbuk Province to build a large public parking lot with more than 120 parking spaces underground on the school playground. The Office of Education will provide about 4,600㎡ of land and implement the project, while the county will support the project with about 10 billion KRW and manage its use in the future, making it a model case where the school and local community can achieve a win-win relationship.
The county had a pressing need to build a large parking lot due to the continuous increase in vehicles and illegal parking in the downtown area causing inconvenience to residents and increasing the risk of pedestrian safety accidents. However, securing land was difficult despite years of effort. Upon hearing the plan to promote the Yeongyang Elementary School facility complexification project, the agreement ceremony was held with the cooperation of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Office of Education and the county council.
Superintendent Lim Jong-sik said, “I consider it very meaningful that Yeongyang County and the Provincial Office of Education have held this business agreement ceremony for the school facility complexification project. I hope that the successful promotion of this project will be an opportunity for the school and local community to develop together.”
