Presidential Office Publishes First Public Proposal Report... Responds to 24,788 Cases
Analysis of 25,099 National Proposals from June to September
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] On the 12th, the Presidential Office published the first "National Proposal Report," documenting the operation progress of the government's new communication channel, the 'Gukmin Je-an' (National Proposal) website.
According to the report, since the implementation of Gukmin Je-an on June 23 last year, a total of 25,099 civil complaints, proposals, and petitions were received by the end of September.
By type, civil complaints and proposals accounted for 66%, and petitions 32%, with those aged 50 and above making up 56% of the submissions.
By sector, the distribution was as follows: administration and safety 11%, police 7%, finance 6%, culture 6%, and industry and trade 6%.
Major application cases included requests for COVID-19 support payments, urging police investigations, strengthening enforcement against electric kickboards, demands for cataract insurance claim payments, and regulations on mandatory closures of large supermarkets.
Big data analysis revealed that the main keywords in the received Gukmin Je-an were COVID-19, small business owners, support funds, real estate, tenants, deposits, short selling, and persons with disabilities.
The submitted Gukmin Je-an were initially distributed to the relevant agencies, each of which reviewed the proposals and completed responses to a total of 24,788 cases.
Additionally, the Presidential Office identified about 360 review tasks requiring policy consideration, of which 17 were finally selected for policy implementation.
The main policy tasks include ▲exemption from penalties for small overdue health insurance premiums among vulnerable groups ▲establishment of youth-exclusive mortgages and expansion of loans for first-time homebuyers and newlyweds ▲institutionalization of electric kickboard license certification and insurance enrollment ▲standardization of cataract surgery insurance payment criteria ▲pilot project allowing pets in national parks ▲establishment of a Class 1 automatic transmission license ▲rationalization of requirements for farming support projects, among others.
