China Temporarily Suspends Japanese Visa Issuance from the 10th
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Hyun-ji] The Japanese government expressed regret over China's suspension of visa issuance to Japanese nationals and demanded its withdrawal.
At a regular press conference on the 11th, Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno Hirokazu stated, "It is extremely regrettable that China has restricted visa issuance for reasons unrelated to COVID-19 measures." He added, "We have protested through diplomatic channels and demanded a withdrawal." Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa, who is visiting Argentina, also stated that he protested and demanded the withdrawal of China's measure.
China temporarily suspended the issuance of general visas to Japanese nationals starting the previous day as a protest against Japan's strengthened quarantine measures for arrivals from China.

Considering the rapid increase in COVID-19 cases in China, the Japanese government has required, since the 30th of last month, that arrivals from China submit a negative COVID-19 test certificate issued within 72 hours before departure and undergo testing upon arrival.
