Busan Office of Education to Upgrade All School CCTVs to High Definition
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education is implementing a project to upgrade CCTV systems in schools of all levels to high-definition in order to establish a safer school environment infrastructure.
This project aims to reduce blind spots and prevent school violence and various crimes by expanding the installation of high-definition CCTV within schools and strengthening real-time monitoring.
The support targets of this project include public kindergartens and national, public, and private schools of all levels. All CCTVs with less than 2 million pixels will be replaced without quantity limits, while new CCTV installations are limited to a maximum of 16 units per applying school, and recorder installations are limited to one unit per school.
In last year’s school demand survey, the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education received applications from 229 schools and will support the installation of 1,534 CCTVs and 206 recorders with a budget of 1.84 billion KRW.
Among these, 369 low-pixel CCTVs will be fully replaced with high-definition CCTVs of 2 million pixels or more, and 1,165 CCTVs and 206 recorders will be supported as new installations.
Elementary and special schools linked with the CCTV integrated control center must install equipment after consulting with the local government control center.
As of September last year, all schools in the Busan area had CCTV installed, with a 95.8% possession rate of CCTVs with 2 million pixels or more. With this measure, all schools will have high-definition CCTV.
