Namhae-gun Implements Special Sale of Branch and Card Namhae Currency Hwajeon for Lunar New Year
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] Namhae-gun, Gyeongnam Province, will conduct a special sale of paper and card Hwajeon (花錢) for five days from the 16th to the 20th to revitalize the local economy in celebration of Seollal, the traditional Korean Lunar New Year holiday.
During this special sale period, the personal purchase limit, which is normally 100,000 KRW per month, will be expanded to 200,000 KRW by integrating paper and card Hwajeon. Mobile purchases are not applicable.
Even after the full lifting of COVID-19 social distancing measures, small business owners’ economic sentiment remains weak with consumer confidence still declining. To invigorate the sluggish local commercial districts and expand Hwajeon distribution before the upcoming Seollal holiday, this expanded Hwajeon sale aims to breathe new life into traditional (public) markets and neighborhood shopping areas within the county.
