The Gyeongnam Blood Center announced that it held a sharing event of love together with the Army's 39th Division from the 4th to the 5th.
On that day, the soldiers boarded the blood donation bus, filled out medical questionnaires, and participated in blood and hematopoietic stem cell donations.
Hematopoietic stem cells, meaning "mother cells that produce blood," are stem cells that generate all blood cells such as red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.
It is known that if healthy hematopoietic stem cells from a donor whose human leukocyte antigen (HLA) matches are transplanted at the appropriate time to patients with leukemia, aplastic anemia, or blood cancer, they can be completely cured.
The blood drawn from the soldiers' arms, strengthened through exercise and training, filled blood packs; 247 people donated blood, and 76 donated hematopoietic stem cells.
