Yeosu-si Allocates 19.3 Billion KRW for Ministry of Land's Hazardous and Bottleneck Road Improvement Project
Five Locations Including Dolsan Guljeon Roundabout Included in Basic Plan

Five Locations Including Guljeon Village Roundabout in Dolsan-eup... Included in the 7th Basic Plan for 2023-2027
Yeosu City (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced on the 5th that a total of five sites, including one dangerous road and four bottleneck points, with a project budget of 19.35 billion KRW, have been reflected in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's '7th Phase (2023-2027) Basic Plan for National Road Dangerous and Bottleneck Point Improvement.'
The 'National Road Dangerous and Bottleneck Point Improvement Project' is a project conducted every five years by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to improve locations with vulnerable road geometric structures or bottleneck sections where traffic accidents are a concern.
The four bottleneck point improvement projects included in this 7th basic plan are ▲ Installation of an exclusive vehicle road entrance connection in Deokyang-ri, Sora-myeon, with a budget of 12.5 billion KRW ▲ Roundabout installation in Guljeon Village, Pyeongsari, Dolsan-eup, with 2.25 billion KRW ▲ Roundabout installation in Dosil Village, Pyeongsari, Dolsan-eup, with 1.8 billion KRW ▲ Roundabout installation in Jukpo-ri, Dolsan-eup, with 1 billion KRW.
The dangerous road improvement project includes one site: ▲ Geometric and longitudinal alignment and road width expansion in Geumbong-ri, Dolsan-eup, with 1.8 billion KRW. In total, five sites with a project budget of 19.35 billion KRW will be invested in this 7th phase project.
In particular, the 'Installation of an Exclusive Vehicle Road Entrance Connection in Deokyang-ri, Sora-myeon,' which will receive 12.5 billion KRW, is a project to directly connect Local Road No. 22 Deokyang to National Road No. 17 (towards Suncheon) exclusive vehicle road. Until now, drivers had to detour via Haesan Intersection, causing significant inconvenience.
Additionally, roundabouts and other improvements will be installed at three locations including Guljeon Village in Dolsan, which have continuously caused traffic congestion for tourists and local residents during vacation seasons and weekends. This is expected to greatly help alleviate bottleneck traffic congestion and resolve residents' complaints.
The projects reflected in this 7th basic plan will be sequentially promoted starting with detailed design in 2023, according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's priorities.
A city official said, "As a result of continuously requesting the necessity of the projects to the National Assembly and central government agencies, we achieved the outcome of securing essential project funds for our region. The improvement of dangerous roads and bottleneck points is expected to greatly contribute to providing traffic convenience for tourists visiting Yeosu and local residents."
