Imsil-gun Accelerates Osu World Famous Dog Theme Park Development Project

[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk announced on the 5th that it has secured 500 million KRW in national budget for the creation of Osu World Famous Dog Theme Land, with a total project cost of 18 billion KRW, and will begin full-scale work starting this year.

With the budget secured for the World Famous Dog Theme Land project, it will be possible to build a distinguished dog theme land that leads the future pet industry by combining education, experience, and tourism functions along with world-famous dogs.

Based on the basic concept of the World Famous Dog Theme Land implemented in 2020, the county plans to complete administrative procedures and detailed design by next year through feasibility verification in consultation with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Also, the project is scheduled to be completed by 2026, aiming to make the area a hub for pets so that many pet families can visit, and to promote it as a mecca of the pet industry.

The World Famous Dog Theme Land will provide professional workforce training and differentiated experiential services through infrastructure construction such as education and experience.

County Governor Shim has been striving to secure national funds by going back and forth between Jeonbuk Province, central government ministries, and the National Assembly to foster the pet industry centered on Osu’s dog legend, which has even been included in elementary school textbooks.

Following the final selection of the 21.7 billion KRW Osu District Urban Regeneration Revitalization Project specializing in pets in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s contest last December, the national budget for the creation of the World Famous Dog Theme Land was newly secured from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

In particular, these projects were finally reflected at the National Assembly stage as a result of Governor Shim’s wholehearted efforts along with Governor Kim Gwan-young of Jeonbuk Province and National Assemblyman Lee Yong-ho while going back and forth between Jeonbuk Province, central government ministries, and the National Assembly.

Currently, centered on the dog tourism site in Osu, the Osu Public Animal Cremation Facility (6 billion KRW), built with national funds since 2020, is in operation, and projects such as the Pet Support Center (8 billion KRW) and Dog Tourism Site Maintenance (5 billion KRW) are underway.

This year, a pet-friendly camping site (2 billion KRW) where visitors can enjoy camping with their pets within the dog tourism site will also be additionally created.

Along with this, the construction of the Osu 2nd Agricultural and Industrial Complex (20.8 billion KRW) is in the final stages with active attraction of excellent companies, and preparations are underway for the Osu 3rd Agricultural and Industrial Complex (17 billion KRW).

The county plans to steadily promote projects that will transform Osu-myeon into a nationwide landmark of the pet industry, and based on the historical story of Osu’s dog legend, aims to rebirth Imsil-gun as the number one place for the pet industry nationwide.

Governor Shim Min said, “Having succeeded in securing national funds to create the World Famous Dog Theme Land, we have gained great momentum to make Imsil the number one place for pets by integrating the currently ongoing pet industry-related infrastructure,” and added, “We will further accelerate efforts to build a county that leads the future pet industry.”
