A man in his 20s caught buying Philopon via Telegram... Caught by a YouTuber
[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] A man in his 20s suspected of purchasing and possessing methamphetamine via Telegram was arrested by the police.
On the 5th, the Jungnang Police Station in Seoul announced that they had booked a man in his 20s, identified as Mr. A, on charges including violation of the Narcotics Control Act.
According to the police, Mr. A purchased 500,000 won worth of methamphetamine from a drug dealer near Wolgok Station in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, around 1 p.m. the previous day. It is known that Mr. A contacted the drug dealer through Telegram.
Later, Mr. A was caught by the police around 12:30 a.m. at Meokgol Station in Jungnang-gu, Seoul, following a report by YouTuber Mr. B. At the time of arrest, 18 mg of methamphetamine and one syringe were found in Mr. A’s vehicle.
YouTuber Mr. B reportedly arranged to meet Mr. A through a chat application and then reported him to the police. Mr. B disguised as a woman and contacted Mr. A, claiming to buy drugs in exchange for sexual relations. Mr. B has previously reported drug possessors in the Gangbuk and Dobong districts.
