[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Taewon] The National Solidarity for the Elimination of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities (Jeonjangyeon) concluded its publicity campaign at Hyehwa Station on Seoul Subway Line 4 on the morning of the 4th without attempting to board the subway.
Jeonjangyeon launched the "255th Day Subway Publicity Campaign for Securing Disability Rights Budget and Legislation" around 8 a.m. that day. However, contrary to their initial announcement to attempt boarding the subway, the publicity campaign ended after the press conference. Park Kyung-seok, co-executive director of Jeonjangyeon, explained the reason for not attempting to board, saying, "There is no rule that a subway publicity campaign must involve riding the subway," and added, "Although Mayor Oh Se-hoon spoke negatively about it, the publicity campaign is originally peaceful."
Jeonjangyeon is scheduled to hold a meeting with Kim Seok-ho, head of the Seoul Transportation Corporation's Business Headquarters, at 2 p.m. that day. The meeting was reportedly requested by the corporation. Director Park stated, "At the meeting, I will fully explain what happened during the trial regarding the adjustment plan and ask the corporation to open a space where we can discuss peacefully through an agreement."
However, regardless of the meeting's outcome, the subway publicity campaign during the morning commute is expected to continue. Jeonjangyeon's position is that the protest on Line 4 will be held daily since securing the disability rights budget is the goal, regardless of any proposal for agreement.

Previously, Jeonjangyeon announced the "2023 Subway Publicity Campaign Direction" the day before. The plan is to conduct the morning commute subway publicity campaign exclusively on Line 4 for 260 days every year, excluding weekends and holidays. To avoid friction with the police, the location will be announced at 8 a.m. on the day. Director Park said, "Samgakji Station, which is closest to the Presidential Office where President Yoon Seok-yeol is, is on Line 4. We will not conduct the publicity campaign on other lines except for this," and expressed, "We sincerely apologize to the citizens using Line 4 with a heavy heart."
