Preventing Major Accidents, Building Safe Ports, and Creating Workplaces Free from Industrial Disasters
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Park Seong-hyun, YGPA) held a Safety and Health Management Policy Proclamation Ceremony on the 2nd at the 2nd floor international conference room of the World Marine Center, declaring its commitment to becoming a safe and accident-free workplace by preventing major accidents and building a safe port.
Through the proclamation ceremony, YGPA reaffirmed its management policy prioritizing the prevention of industrial accidents for all port workers and users, emphasizing the importance of building a safe port to its executives and employees.
At the event, the YGPA president and the labor union chairman jointly read and proclaimed the labor-management joint safety and health management policy, solidifying a strong determination to eradicate industrial and major accidents among workers.
The main contents of the safety and health management policy include ▲ protecting the lives, bodies, and property of workers and the public through the establishment of a safety and health management system, ▲ compliance with safety and health-related laws to prevent major and industrial accidents, ▲ thorough operation of the safety and health management system to achieve “ZERO” safety accidents, ▲ spreading a safety culture through participation and communication among partner companies, and ▲ actively implementing measures to eliminate and improve hazardous and dangerous factors in the workplace.
An official from the authority stated, “We plan to strengthen activities to spread a safety culture through sustainable safety and health management activities at all workplaces and cooperation among port workers through labor-management collaboration.”
