While the confectionery industry has utilized flexo printing, this is the first time it has been applied in the ramen industry. Unlike gravure printing, which uses oil-based ink, flexo printing uses eco-friendly water-based ink, reducing ink usage by more than 30% compared to traditional methods. Additionally, a different drying method reduces greenhouse gas emissions by an average of 50%.
To strengthen ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management, Ottogi plans to expand eco-friendly packaging to ramen and other products through Poonglim P&P, a food packaging specialist company that produces Ottogi product containers and packaging materials. This year, Ottogi will invest a total of 25 billion KRW to introduce additional equipment next year and expand the application mainly to ramen products.

This not only reduces ink usage but also helps protect the environment by lowering greenhouse gas emissions." He added, "With additional equipment planned for next year, we will continue to play a leading role in eco-friendly packaging within the industry."
