Gwangyang Economic Free Zone Authority Holds Investment and Trade Briefing with Anhui Province Delegation from China
Introduction to Gwangyang Bay Area's Industrial Strengths and Successful Cases of Foreign-Invested Companies Utilizing FTAs
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seonsik] The Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority (Commissioner Song Sangrak, hereinafter Gwangyang Economic Authority) announced on the 3rd that it held an investment and trade briefing session on the 2nd to welcome a delegation of entrepreneurs from Anhui Province, China (hereinafter Anhui delegation).
The visit of the Anhui delegation consisted of more than 30 entrepreneurs from the secondary battery, chemical materials, and daily necessities sectors, along with officials from the Anhui Provincial Department of Commerce, and was promoted in collaboration with the Jeonnam Province China Office.
The delegation toured the Gwangyang Port Exhibition Hall and industrial complex, followed by an investment and trade briefing session with the Gwangyang Economic Authority.
At the briefing, the Gwangyang Economic Authority introduced successful cases of foreign-invested companies in the region utilizing Korea’s global FTA platform amid the rapidly changing global supply chain and international economic environment after the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as new business opportunities in the battery sector.
Subsequently, the Anhui delegation presented the development plans and investment environment of Chuzhou City and Ma'anshan City in Anhui Province and explored opportunities for mutual cooperation.
Anhui Province, home to the famous Huangshan Mountain, one of China’s renowned mountains, has a population of 61.13 million and a regional gross domestic product of 616.9 billion USD (2021).
Its major industries include energy, agricultural food products, machinery, and chemical engineering. In 2016, Dongbao Food from Anhui Province invested in Bao Food Co., Ltd., which operates within the Gwangyang Bay Area.
A representative from the Gwangyang Economic Authority stated, “Through this briefing session, we hope that Anhui entrepreneurs will understand the Gwangyang Bay Area and that cooperation opportunities in investment and trade with Anhui will expand in our region’s industrial strengths, such as batteries and international logistics.”
