Busan Office of Education Conducts 2023 Elementary School Preliminary Enrollment
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will conduct a preliminary gathering for children eligible for enrollment in public elementary schools in the Busan area for the 2023 academic year from the 4th to the 7th of this month.
This preliminary gathering is primarily conducted face-to-face to confirm the whereabouts and safety of the children; however, considering the COVID-19 situation, the school principal will decide whether to hold the gathering in person or remotely.
If it is difficult to conduct the gathering face-to-face, various non-face-to-face methods such as video calls or verification of enrollment certificates from daycare centers or kindergartens can be utilized.
To accommodate parents and guardians, the preliminary gathering will be held until evening hours, and if it is not conducted in the evening, weekends can be used. Exact times can be confirmed by contacting the school or checking announcements and notices on the school’s website.
If attendance at the preliminary gathering is inevitably not possible, parents or guardians must contact the school where the child will enroll before the scheduled gathering date.
In particular, if enrollment is difficult due to unavoidable reasons such as illness or developmental conditions, guardians can apply for enrollment exemption or deferral at the school where the child will enroll.
The Office of Education plans to thoroughly verify the safety and whereabouts of children eligible for enrollment by coordinating with the Education Support Office, schools, local governments, and the police during the preliminary gathering period.
For children who do not respond to the preliminary gathering, all possible methods such as phone calls, home visits, and school visit requests will be mobilized to confirm the child’s safety. If it remains difficult to ascertain the child’s safety and whereabouts through these efforts, an investigation will be requested from the local police station to verify the child’s status.
