Sokcho Coast Guard Launches 'Special Safety Management for Sunrise Visitors'
Pre-Field Inspection, Patrol Vessels, Police Officer Deployment... Situation Response Team Formation
Safety Fences, Fall Prevention Ramps at Local Beaches, Ports, Harbors, and Breakwaters
[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Sokcho Coast Guard announced on the 31st, "On the early morning of January 1, 2023, over 100 police officers will be deployed to 24 locations along beaches, harbors, and ports, and 8 patrol boats and coastal rescue boats will be dispatched to prepare for coastal safety accidents."
The Sokcho Coast Guard inspected safety personnel deployment plans for the New Year's sunrise day, as well as safety accident prevention measures on board, and checked safety-vulnerable facilities such as safety fences and fall prevention curbs at beaches, harbors, ports, and breakwaters in the jurisdiction, including the Goblin Breakwater in Jumunjin, Gangneung, which is a high-risk area for accidents.
Since New Year's sunrise events, which had been suspended due to social distancing, are being held at various locations along the East Coast, an increase in tourists is expected. Therefore, safety violation prevention education was also conducted targeting multi-use vessels (ferries, fishing boats, etc.) to prevent early departures and exceeding passenger limits.
