[New Year's Address] Iwankyu, Chief of the Legislation Office, "Accelerating National Achievements through Legislation"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daehyun] Lee Wankyu, the head of the Ministry of Government Legislation, stated, "As the institution overseeing government legislation and legislative affairs, we will accelerate the creation of national achievements through legislation and the improvement of legal systems for the people."
On the 30th, Lee said in his New Year's address, "In the second year of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, we must push forward new tasks with even greater momentum."
Lee explained the achievements so far, saying, "Immediately after the new government took office, we promptly supported important national agenda items through legislation, such as establishing the personnel verification system, adjusting the scope of prosecutors' investigation initiation, and creating the Police Bureau for democratic control of the police," and "while overseeing the legislative plan for national tasks, the Ministry of Government Legislation directly led the comprehensive revision of over 100 laws to reduce the management burden on small business owners and self-employed individuals and to promote economic activities among youth."
Regarding the codification of the 'age in full years' principle through the amended Framework Act on Administrative Procedures, scheduled to take effect in June next year, he mentioned, "Until now, the coexistence of 'Korean age' in daily life and 'age in full years' in laws caused confusion and inconvenience for the public, who have supported the process of codifying the 'age in full years' principle."
