Police to Implement Traffic Control on Certain Sections Ahead of New Year's Eve Bell-Ringing Event
[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] The police will implement traffic control in certain sections to prepare for safety accidents during the New Year's Eve Bell Ringing event.
On the 30th, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that in relation to the '2022 New Year's Eve Bell Ringing Event,' traffic in some downtown areas will be controlled from 9 PM on the 31st until 1:30 AM the following day.
The specific control zones are as follows: in Jongno, from Sejong-daero Intersection to Jongno 2-ga Intersection; in Ujeongguk-ro, from Anguk-dong Intersection to Gwanggyo Intersection; and in Namdaemun-ro, from Gwanggyo Intersection to Euljiro 1-ga Intersection. Both directions of the lanes will be closed.
Additionally, to minimize traffic congestion and inconvenience to citizens, about 180 traffic police officers will be deployed around the event area. A total of 84 signboards and 140 banners will also be installed to guide vehicles to detour in advance.

A police official stated, "We hope people will use public transportation as much as possible during the event hours," and added, "If driving is unavoidable, please detour in advance around the controlled areas and follow the traffic police's hand signals carefully."
