Boseong-gun Secures 6.6 Billion Won in Special Grants, Boosting Momentum for Key Projects
Flexibility in Resident Priority Projects and Policy Initiatives
[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Cheon-seok] Boseong County, Jeollanam-do announced that it secured 6.619 billion KRW in special grant funds for 2022.
This amount is an increase of 2.468 billion KRW compared to 2021.
Special grants are project funds allocated after reviewing the feasibility, urgency, and contribution to local employment of projects applied for through the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The main projects funded by the special grants include ▲Improvement of Boseong regional water intake facilities (800 million KRW) ▲Maintenance of sidewalks on Boseong County urban planning roads (700 million KRW) ▲Repair of the old Jeonil reservoir in Boseong (1.6 billion KRW) ▲Improvement of small piers at Beolgyo Port (300 million KRW) ▲Expansion of water supply in Beolgyo Chil-dong district (1.2 billion KRW) ▲Maintenance of aging pipelines responding to ground subsidence in Boseong (600 million KRW), disaster safety projects (867 million KRW), and excellent national policy projects (552 million KRW), among others.
Boseong County expects that the 12 resident-requested projects it has managed so far and 8 excellent national policy projects will gain momentum through securing the special grants.
In particular, it is anticipated that the living conditions and safety infrastructure closely related to residents' lives will be further strengthened through project implementation.
Kim Cheol-woo, Governor of Boseong County, said, “To secure special grants that can increase financial autonomy, we will establish a continuous budget cooperation system with Jeollanam-do and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and ask for efforts to discover feasible projects for 2023 to resolve residents’ pending issues.”
