Pulmuone Launches 'Plant-Based Earth Diet LIKE Luncheon Meat'
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] Pulmuone Foods announced on the 28th that it has launched the canned-type luncheon meat-flavored product, ‘Plant-based Earth Diet LIKE Luncheon Meat.’
Plant-based Earth Diet LIKE Luncheon Meat is the second product in the ‘LIKE Alternative Meat’ lineup, following the plant-based tender ‘LIKE Tender’ made from knot tofu.
LIKE Luncheon Meat is made by processing ‘Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP)’ extracted from soybeans, and Pulmuone’s unique technology replicates the savory taste and elasticity of ham favored by Koreans. Notably, it differentiates itself by not using common food additives such as L-glutamic acid sodium (flavor enhancer) and sodium nitrite (color fixative), and minimizing the use of other additives. The meat particles in LIKE Luncheon Meat have elasticity even after multiple chews, thanks to Pulmuone’s proprietary TVP combination technology and expertise. This addresses consumer feedback that alternative meats tend to crumble immediately without a chewy texture. To meet the value consumption of consumers who choose plant-based meals for health and environmental reasons, the product packaging has removed the cap and label (only for the 3-pack product), reducing unnecessary waste.
