Geumcheon-gu Notifies Heirs of Land Ownership Status of Deceased Persons
Geumcheon-gu Confirms Land Ownership Status of 1,122 Heirs for 550,437㎡ Worth 81.9 Billion KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yuseonghun) announced the completion of the "Dream Project to Find Precious Assets Buried in the Land," which involves directly identifying land owned by deceased individuals and providing land ownership status to their heirs.
Through this project, the district confirmed the land ownership status of 1,122 local heirs, covering 550,437㎡ of land valued at approximately 81.9 billion KRW based on official land prices. The initiative received great support from residents by offering proactive administrative services, including acquisition tax reporting and guidance on inheritance registration.
The existing "Finding Ancestral Land" property inquiry service required applicants to visit the district office in person with family register extracts and identification cards, causing inconvenience. Since February, the district has provided an active service that informs heirs of their ancestors' land ownership status by utilizing big data from the comprehensive real estate database system and resident computer network.
By providing assets of the deceased that were previously overlooked, this service has not only facilitated the exercise and protection of heirs' property rights but also contributed significantly to non-face-to-face civil service processing methods aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19.
Last year, Geumcheon-gu received great response by providing land ownership status for 1,849 parcels to 621 residents through the "Finding Ancestral Land" property inquiry service.

Yuseonghun, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, stated, "This project aims to protect residents' property rights while alleviating the economic and time burdens of having to visit the district office in person." He added, "Going forward, our district will continue to pursue innovative administrative services to locate and provide residents' property rights."
