[Asia Economy Reporter Donghoon Jung] Hyundai Heavy Industries Group has chosen 'HD Hyundai' as its new name and presented the direction the group should take through the announcement of a new vision.
HD Hyundai announced that on the afternoon of the 26th, it held a 50th anniversary vision declaration ceremony at the Global R&D Center (GRC) located in Pangyo, Gyeonggi Province.
At the vision declaration ceremony, HD Hyundai declared the official change of the group’s name and unveiled its mission: "Pioneering the future of humanity through innovation leading the era and relentless challenges."
They presented three core business visions to realize pioneering the future of humanity.
For the shipbuilding and marine sector, the new vision is "Realizing the infinite potential of the sea"; for the energy sector, "Implementing a sustainable future energy ecosystem"; and for the industrial machinery sector, "Providing industrial solutions that transcend spatial and temporal limits." These embody the ambition to create a future industrial ecosystem.
Chairman Kwon Oh-gap of HD Hyundai said in his commemorative speech, "Today is the day our group begins anew under the name 'HD Hyundai' at the GRC," adding, "While the past 50 years have been a glorious history marking a page in our country’s economic development, the next 50 years will be a history of innovation and creation where technology, environment, and digital converge."
President Chung Ki-sun of HD Hyundai took the stage as the presenter and took time to explain HD Hyundai’s new vision in detail directly to the employees.
At the end of his presentation, President Chung promised the employees, "We will actively lead efforts to truly become a 'company where people want to work' and a 'company where dreams can be freely realized.' We will create a smarter working environment and corporate culture."
Following this, HD Hyundai unveiled its new CI (Corporate Identity). The new symbol, named the Forward Mark, evolved from the existing pyramid-shaped triangle into an arrow shape. The dynamic shape of the Forward Mark symbolizes HD Hyundai’s will to move forward through change, and the green color represents a sustainable future.
The event concluded with about 1,000 employees flying paper airplanes on which they had written messages of support. Employees from group companies nationwide, including Ulsan, Yeongam, and Daesan, also participated via a YouTube live broadcast.
